An
ultrasound test is a way of looking at the inner eye using sound waves.
Retina of Coastal Carolina now utilizes the
OTI 3-D ultrasound
system. We are one of the few practices in the southeast to offer this
system. 3-D ultrasonography renders an image using simultaneous scans to compile
one image. This allows the physician to rotate, and "cut" through an image to
obtain specific information. 3-D ultrasonography is valuable in retinal
applications, including assessing and measuring intraocular tumors, provide a
view of the retina behind an opacity, and to assess retinal detachments.
