Transpupillary
Thermotherapy (TTT) is a laser procedure indicated for
patients with Wet ARMD.
TTT uses a low wattage laser, when applied to an area of abnormal blood vessels,
slowly "melts" the abnormal blood vessels, without destroying the surrounding
normal tissues. Patients who have occult wet ARMD best benefit from this
procedure. Your doctor can determine eligibility for treatment using a
fluorescein angiogram. The goal of TTT is to destroy the abnormal tissues, while
stabilizing the patient's vision. TTT will not restore vision lost to wet ARMD,
but the goal of the treatment is to confine and inhibit the progression of the
disease.
