Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a diagnostic test conducted to evaluate the layers of the retina. Optical coherence tomography is a coherent imaging technique,where the light "echoes" of retinal layers are detected and displayed.

Your physician can locate pathology within the retinal layers using OCT. OCT may be used in conjunction with fluorescein angiography to diagnose and treat many retinal disorders.
